Just a Matter of Time

Joshua has continued his bottle feeding progress and it will just be a matter of a few days before he is home. As I wrote previously, if he passes a few more all important breathing\heart rate tests, we should have him in house by the weekend. The other two are doing well, t

Just so everyone is aware one thing we will have to be very aware of with the babies is the virus - RSV. Here is a small snippet on RSV. I have also included two links at the bottom in case anyone wants to read more. We are still coming up with ideas on how best to handle them once they are home. One idea we have is to buy hospital gowns to wear at home when holding them, which is similar to the hospital protocol.

Please do not be offended if you come to visit and we have a few questions for you and we ask you to wear a beautiful second hand hospital gown. Also, if anyone has any suggestions, please post them via comments.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a major cause of respiratory illness in young children. RSV causes infection of the lungs and breathing passages. In adults, it may only produce symptoms of a common cold, such as a stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, mild headache, cough, fever, and a general feeling of being ill. But RSV infections can lead to other more serious illnesses in premature babies and kids with diseases that affect the lungs, heart, or immune system.

the most important thing with RSV is handwashing. Everyone (no exceptions!) needs to be required to immediatley entering the house to go and scrubb their hands, counting to 20 (at least) and using hot water and plently of soap, just like the nicu. Even if they are not going to hold the babies, so they don't transfer any germs to other services.
